SABA Monologue Festival

The SABA Monologue Festival is an independent international event dedicated to the art of monologue, creating a space for individual expression, personal storytelling, and contemporary performance in acting. The festival aims to foster dialogue among artists, amplify emerging voices, and strengthen the professional presence of performers.

This edition welcomes participants from Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, as well as Germany, presenting their works alongside one another. In addition to performances, the festival features specialized workshops focused on acting, performance, and the creative process, offering opportunities for learning, exchange, and artistic connection.

The SABA Monologue Festival is a platform for diverse voices—where every narrative becomes a new world.

Festival Director

She is an Iranian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist, producer, and storyteller whose work bridges theatre, film, and cross-cultural performance. Drawing on her Iranian heritage and international collaborations, she creates projects that blend modern forms with rich cultural narratives, exploring themes of identity, memory, and human connection.

Masoud Pakdel

Jury member

He is a distinguished Iranian photographer, television producer, and cultural leader. He has collaborated with major institutions such as IRIB, the Ministry of Culture, and the Performing Arts Center, shaping projects that celebrate Iran’s artistic heritage. A former director of Vahdat Hall and senior figure at the Roudaki Foundation, Pakdel is recognized for uniting artistic vision with large-scale cultural production.

Moha Arjang

Jury member

He is an Iranian writer and director who has been active in the fields of filmmaking and performing arts in Iran for over two decades. He has published more than ten specialized books in filmmaking and is regarded as a prominent figure in the production of educational and research-based content in this field. After immigrating to Montreal, Arjang has continued his professional activities and, in addition to his filmmaking projects, has collaborated on several theatrical productions and stage directing, which are included in his professional portfolio.

Hamidreza Hosseini

Jury member

He is a Montreal-based theatre practitioner and part-time faculty member in Concordia University’s Theatre Department. He works at the intersection of performance and technology and is the founder of the CyberShakespeare collective, which has brought performances to audiences in the US, France, Iran, Sweden, and Canada.
